This painting resulted from a sitting that happened on a visit from my friend and collaborator who often stays at my home when her work brings her to the Boston or Providence areas. Despite these visits only being a couple of days, midweek, with the usual morning and afternoon frenzy that characterizes a family with school-aged children, she fits into our family life. Her sitting was only 90 minutes bookended by meetings but felt leisurely, with conversation that traversed shared friends, reviving threads of collaborative research, the labor of love that is her house, non-academic pursuits, and observations of works in progress. Her scan, imported into a 3d modeling environment, fits naturally against this assorted backdrop, with her presence making sense of the uneasy intersections.
