This painting was done with a live sitting as well as a constructed digital model. For this portrait, I scanned in both sitters as well as objects of shared interest that they had brought into the studio, and then imported all of the scans into a 3d-modeling environment. The arrangement of the scanned figures and objects in the digital landscape has become an increasingly important part of my process, and allows me to capture observations and conversation during the live sitting using geometric operations and spatial cues.
